Ok, here you can see yesterday's results ... it's just a bunch of sketches, but I enjoyed working on it! Since I didn't received many comments in my previous post, I tried to develop more than just one historical figure: The first one was Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan and then Elizabeth I of England, as suggested by [info]thornwolf (but, since her clothes were too complicated, I retreated on the figure of Leif Ericson) XD

When I changed my mind, [info]breakingpencils suggested me to try with Gengis Khan ... and that's what I did! =)
I'm really curious to know your opinion. It's not a coherent process, I know; I just wanted to move my hands and put something together. ;) BTW, I think I need to train myself with facial expressions, I've always been kind of rigid. Do you have any suggestion? I don't have much time to draw as much as I wish, but your help is still a treasure to me!!! =D

Now we can really start:

"Where does this guy come from?" :P

I hope you liked them!

Rise of the Lycans.

It was okay, I didn't understand some things though. Like why the werewolves from the prison didn't just... pass the key around to get rid of the collars and all turn into werewolves and take on the vampires? Wouldn't that have been smarter than running off as humans?

Also, okay, anatomy. You can't run on four legs if your rear legs are twice as long as your forelimbs without sticking your ass in the air. If you try, it looks weird, so just run on two please, or, if you must, do it like a frog or something. Or lengthen the forelimbs... I don't know, but watching those things run really took me out of the movie.

overall...I give it a C, even though the werewolves looked better than the sweaty Gargoyles they were in the other movies, it still felt like they ripped off White Wolf...just Badly.

Okay, finally! FINALLY!! My room's clean! You have no idea how excited this makes me.

So, I'm going to Share my victory with all of you!!

X-posted between [info]westly_roanoke, [info]ourbedrooms, and [info]iheartmyroom!

First off, we got booted out of our last place, but you might remember me from This Post. While bummed about the fact I had to move, I got a bigger room, and a little smaller bathroom.

I'm working in...about a 13X13 space, with an additional bathroom.

Everything under the cut! 20 rather large images. )

Thanks for joining me on this little excursion! I'm glad you did!

Let me know what you think! Questions, comments, concerns, suggestions all welcomed!

Don't forget your shoes on the way out!

A friend of mine, [info]theredwolf, has a cat who we've just learned has a very large bladder stone and he's having all sorts of problems as a direct result. Her vet gave her the option of doing a $700 surgery or putting him down, which as someone who had a pet who lived for years after bladder stone surgery that was managed with a special diet, I think that's a bit harsh, but $700 is a lot of money to pony up on such short notice.

They're going to be attempting to break up the stone via special food and see if that helps, but ultimately its likely going to come down to the surgery for the cat. After the surgery, she's going to be rehoming him to a family who can better take care of his special needs where he can be an only cat.

If you'd like to help a kitty and my friend, please see this entry for further details:

Her paypal is: selunca@gmail.com

Thanks for looking!

Indy is suffering from a large bladder stone. Our options were either a $700 dollar surgery, or a special food to help see if we could break the bladder stone up, and help it to pass.

At the moment we are going to try and do the food, and see if it passes on its own.
Currently I am accepting donations to help pay for the food, and then a second x-ray that will happen 6 weeks from now to see if the food has helped break up the bladder stone.

If the food does not help, we will opt to get the surgery done.
Any and all donations will be used towards Indy's health and rehomeing.
I am willing to post receipts, and the estimate from the vet if anyone wants that information before donating.

Thank you.

To donate, please donate to my paypal: Selunca@gmail.com

Guys, let me know if you'd rather I update older posts with Indy's news. I know its probably frustraiting to read all these random posts.

First off, I want to apologize if I've offended anyone, or upset anyone. I've been very upset the last 48 hours, very frustraited, and feel like everything in on my shoulders. Its very hard. I'm still not feeling well, and its just hard for everything to fall on me, its like its "My cat" not "our cat".

I just got a phonecall from our vet, They are willing todo payment plans. They want all three checks (They will do three payments : $233 ea), with dates that its okay to cash them.

However, They also came up with another idea. Dr. Lemming thinks that we may be able to break up the stones with a special food. He wants to try this. I asked him how this would work if Indy was in pain, and he said he dosn't think Indy is in pain, he thinks he probably feels like he has to pee. All the time.

So tomorrow I'm to buy that special food, and Indy will start this diet. It will take about 6 weeks to hear or see any results. Until then we will keep him on the pain meds just incase. We also think that the food will help get things 'moving' for Indy, so he can poop better.

I'm not sure how much the food costs, but I'm going to assume it dosn't go over $2-3 dollars a can. (We're doing soft food, to help him poop).

Thank you everyone for putting up for me. I know this must be hard for people to read realizeing this poor cat is in my inept hands.

I wanted to upload photos of Indy so you could see who I was talking about, so. Heres some photos of Indy..

I am going to accept donations, but now that the sum isn't so large, I don't think the website is appropriate. I'm going to accept donations for the food (Which I will keep recepts for if anyone wants them) and then saving for the second x-ray they want to take in a few weeks to see progress of the stones disolving (Again I will post the receipt if anyone wants)

I still intend to call the Animal Hospital in Ames to see if they can offer a lower sum for the sergery.

Donations can go here: Selunca@gmail.com
And please tell me if you'd like anything in return, drawings, sketches.. etc. Within reason.

I stopped by my vet office this evening after work (About 5:00pm) and decided to ask some questions with out kitty in tow. But also I have come to an important decision and I think that it will help change both Indys and my life.

I have decided to treat Indy. If I had a bladder stone, I would want someone to spend $700 on me so that I could live another 12-15 years. Indy is only 10. I have decided I WILL take up donations, but I will do it in a fashion I am comfortable with. I will post more about the donations once I get the website set up (Very simple, won't take much time) so that I can accept them.

I talked to Dr. Lemming about whats happening, and he said that he might be able to lower it even further from the $500ish that he was able to lower it, and he's also going to ask special permission from his office manager to see if we can do payment plans. He said he knows I'm a good kitty-mommy and wants me to keep him because he's been with me so long, and thinks it would be a shame to put such a "Lovely and sweet cat" to sleep. I have to agree.

The recenptionists are also going to call around locally for me and see if they can find someone who will do all we need to make sure he's healthy, but for a lower price. Their going beyond their job to see if they can help me. Their also checking who locally takes payment plans.

Also, the lady at my HR departmetn said there is a veternary school locally that does surgeries at VERY low costs, but with the same great health care, sort of like University of Iowa. Its two hours away, in Ames Iowa. I'm calling them in the morning (They are closed now) to see if or how they can help.

I still have no heard back from the lady at the cat rescue as to if they can help.
I will be posting within the hour as to how I will be accepting donations, a copy of the vet bill estimate, and pictures of pretty Indy.

**edit** Still deciding on the rehomeing issue..

O look a Diaz
I wish I had an "old photo" grain looking filter to go over the obvious sepia. :P  Diaz around Christmastime..finally able to access some of my photos and open them in PS on the PC.

This is one of the dogs owned by my SO's mom, she's a Shar-pei/Lab cross I think and the kids wanted to put this playboy-type hat on her. :3  I think this was Thanksgiving(?) '09.

Oh! Here are the "promise watches" Ryan bought us.. mine is the blue one, derp.. the metal plate inside is also blue but the shot makes it seem washed out.  Both watches are currently not working though.. D: I love these. They're skeleton-style watches.

UV tattoo updated photos )

That's all for now.. yay..

Goodnight

Five days after the new years, I'm finally back into fighting shape!

It took me a little while, but I'm feeling better!

I went to bed at 8:30 last night, woke up briefly at 10:30, was asleep again by 10:35 and then slept straight through to 6:30. Everything was wonderful! GUH Sleeping is awesome.

Anyway, I feel amazing now, and when I get home (In about six hours...) I'll finish, that's right, FINISH cleaning my room, and I'll take pictures for everyone! I know you're all just so excited. ::laughs!::

But, sleep is good, and I finally feel like I got enough!

"Knitting Needles" - colored pencil, marker, acrylic

Photobucket

This started off as a sketch, then I mindlessly started coloring it a year ago, and just now decided to pick it up and finish it. So...technically its a 2010 :)

This will be available for sale at the FC art show.

More porcupines!

I need to sell some originals. Just a few. Debating whether I should just set prices, have FA users note me privately if they're interested in a piece, or put things up on Fbid/Fbuy? I'm always curious about the bid sites but I only ever hear horror stories.

My very seasonal job at the store is pretty much done with sooo its back to job hunting. Magically, my art block seems to have dissolved. I wonder how related these two things are :I

FINALLY saw Avatar in Imax 3-D! After, oh, 3 sittings in regular theaters.
Was ok. I'm not sure 3-D is for everybody. Would have been content to see it in 2-D on that Imax screen. Granted klur and I were late and stuck in the front row next to COLOGNE MAN...it was like our very own smell-o-vision.

Webcomics.com went subscriber-only earlier in the week, and if you follow webcomics news at all, you probably don’t need me to tell you, since it’s already been reported and commented on by every major source all over the internet.

I have no strong opinions on the subject in either direction, the idea of a paysite for tutorials isn’t totally alien to me, lynda.com, nettuts, and 3dbuzz all charge a premium for access to their content and they seem to do okay for themselves, so what Guigar’s doing isn’t an unproven strategy. If you’re broke, though, there’s still a lot of useful information on the subject of telling stories with words and pictures if you know where to look.

Here’s some of my favorites:

Comic Tools is an excellent, if sadly neglected blog on the craft of making comics, but if you dig through the archives, there’s a lot of information there that is still very relevant. I especially like the articles on drawing and using dialogue balloons, a subject that tends to be an afterthought.

One of the things I’ve always found to be very instructive is to look at other peoples’ process, and there are a number of people who’ve documented theirs to share it. Kazu Kibuishi was kind enough to post a three-part series of how he makes Copper, and it’s just wonderful.

And there are of course the old standbys that seem to make the rounds about once every year or so: 22 panels that always work and Disney’s comic strip artist kit. If you haven’t seen them, there’s also a neat set of instructional drawings by osamu tezuka on how to draw manga. All the instructional text is in Japanese, but you’ll get the idea.

Many of the articles on Animation Meat can readily be applied to comics. there are a series of lecture notes and internal memos circulated to animators available on the site. Of interest especially are the notes on work habits, thumbnailing, drawing, and storyboarding.

Finally, it seems like everybody and my mom are running their comics on the wordpress/comicpress value meal combo, and if you’re one of them, it behooves you to take at least a little bit of time to optimize your wordpress setup. Lifehacker ran an article earlier in the year on doing exactly that, and the article itself is an excellent springboard into other useful Wordpress-related learning tools.

If you have your own favorite resources for making comics, be sure to leave a comment and link me up, I’d love to hear about it.

Just putting out the feelers on this one.

I have a Macintosh G4 (desktop/tower) to sell. It's fully loaded with programs, the Adobe CS3 suite, Microsoft Office, even Painter 10, comes with a keyboard and a mouse, and I have an HP flat screen monitor I'll throw in but you'd have to get the cords for it as I had it hooked up to a PC prior and I think the cords are different.

My asking price is $450 OBO

Would anyone be interested?

You'd not only be getting a very decent Apple computer, but you'd also be getting lots of art programs and whatnot.

I'm going to FC so I figured I'd offer it here so if anyone who's not local to me wanted to pick it up there they could, as I don't really want to ship it. Also, my local haunts are Orange County, San Diego, and San Bernardino, so meetups can be arranged if you're a local and want it.

I'd have to have a little bit of time to take my files off of it as when my laptop died it was my workhorse for a couple of months, but that won't take long.

In other un-related news, today was the last day of my medication for the stroke. I started having a really bad headach tonight, so I took the migrain meds they proscribed me, but my stomach is still very upset.

I'm so sick of being sick.

I got home and there was shit everywhere in the bathroom. Everywhere. On the plus side, the enema worked.

Now that I've calmed down, heres exsactly how the vet office panned out;
We got him in there, and they did an x-ray of his abdominal area. First off, the kidney stone is the size of a walnut, and basically fills his entire bladder. Hence why they want to bored him afterward to make sure everything is alright after they stitch him up. She said its so large that it could be cutting into the bladder wall.

Second, He was so constipated that the poop in his system was almost backed up to his stomach. So they gave him an enema, let him sit in a cat for a bit hopeing he'd poo it out (They never told me if he did) so when I got home I put him in the bathroom to keep the mess on tiles.

Thank you guys for posting all of the better options I have then euthiniseing Indy. I want to try one of three things.
Save or find a way to get the $700.
Surrender him to the vet
Call/email the lady from the cat rescue and let her know whats going on, and see if she can help.

I did discuss with the vet later this afternoon, and we both agreed that after this it is probably better for Indy to go to a single cat home. She thinks that Torque and Mia are greatly stressing him out for territorial reasons. So no matter what, after I get Indy taken care of, we (my vet and I) have decided for Indy's quality of life he needs to be a single cat home. Which I am more then bummed about.. but atleast he'll be a live, and probably more happy, right?

I also wanted to tell you guys that this Vet has helped me threw a lot of troubles, finacially they've always been lax with us, and emotionally their always the best. Dr. Lemming has been with me since I got Mia, 13 years ago. So don't think he's a bad doctor or anything, as he's trying his best.

He has even reduced his costs for us, so the estimate is lower then $700. He said he could get it down to $474.25, by not doing Bacterial culters, a cathider and IV set up, or a pre-anesthetic panel. Though he said those really needed done, since Indy is an older cat.

So my game plan at the moment is to email the Cat Rescue lady who helped me to begin with about 6 months ago, and see what she has to say. Next.. I dunno.

Anyone having any suggestions for collecting the $500 to get this done, please let me know. I'm still uncertain about donations.. I'd want to find a good way to doctument where the money went and proove thats were it went. If anyone has any ideas.

Those of you who are tuning in from the RSS feed will have no doubt noticed entries showing up from Flickr in your reader along with updates from the blog and comic here. I’ve taken advantage of Feedburner’s magical powers to include the flickr account so that subscribers can get bonus artwork and sketches. I’ll try not to flood you with uploads (which is kind of a comical notion in and of itself, given my rate of output), but if it does become obnoxious, please speak up. The idea here is to have some kind of interesting content to make the week-long periods between new pages a little bit more tolerable.

One of my goals for the year is to sketch daily, so you’ll know if I’m being good or not if you see a new sketch in your reader every day. You have permission to yell at me if I’m not keeping up.

And if you’re not a subscriber and would like to get in on this caper, you should absolutely subscribe right now.
